Talk to the Ears! - Quirky Cotton Canvas Tote Bag - A Conversational Piece for Autistics
About the Design
The inspiration for this design was talking to my doctor, she thought the lack of eye contact was a learnt behaviour. I quickly corrected her! The issue is NTs read body language instead of listening to what is being said. Autistics, listing and thinking about what is being said, but if they try to do this whilst also reading body language, they get confused. Just like NT trying to read body language and thinking at the same time, they get confused! I think the autistics are right on this front, thoughtful meaningful conversation above superficiality any day!
Wearing this design helps to teach that autistic lack of eye contact is actually a good thing, they are listening to what is being said and thinking about it!
